Choikang Changmin Will Begin Filming For His First Drama In September
5 member idol group TVXQ’s Choikgnag Changmin will begin filming for his first drama in September.
On the 22nd, TVXQ’s agency SM Entertainment said, “There is a high chance that Choikang Changmin will begin filming for the drama ‘Paradise Ranch’ in early September,” and “Choikang Changmin will be the lead role in this drama.”
This is the first time Choikang Changmin will be starring in a drama in five years since his debut in 2004.
This drama will be co-produced by Samhwa Networks and SM Entertainment, and is planned to begin ariting later this year.
On the other hand, TVXQ’s leader U-Know Yunho’s drama MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Heading to the Ground’ will begin airing early September. This is also U-Know Yunho’s first attempt at acting.

U-Know Yunho “The Other Members Are Cheering Me On
U-Know Yunho revealed his thoughts regarding his first attempt at acting with his fellow TVXQ members cheering him on.
On the August 21st episode of MBC ‘Section TV Entertainment News’, the shooting for the poster of MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Heading to the Ground’ was aired. U-Know Yunho, Ara, Lee Yoonji and Lee Sang-yoon were present at this location.
When asked about his thoughts regarding his first attempt at acting, U-Know Yunho wittily replied using the drama’s title and said, “I feel like I’m heading to the ground.” Regarding the reaction he was getting, he said, “The other members told me that they think I’ll do well and that they support me 100%. They said that the character is very similar to me since we both have a lot of charm.”
Lee Sang-yoon, who has to play a role who constantly fights U-Know Yunho and riles him up, did not say much as he took TVXQ fans into consideration and said, “He’s doing the best that he can.” Lee Sang-yoon also made viewers laugh by subconsciously sitting straighter and looking more nervous when the subject of TVXQ’s fans Cassiopeia came up during the interview.
‘Heading to the Ground’ is a love story that results from the misunderstandings that arise between passionate yet unlucky Bong-goon and Kang Haebin (played by Ara), a girl who has everything but wishes to succeed on her own.
U-Know Yunho plays the role of Cha Bong-goon, a man who lives an unlucky life, having almost died three times, but still lives a passionate life in order to fulfill his dream of playing on the national soccer team. The first episode airs on September 9th.

[News] 090821 Xiah Junsu to Receive 140 Million Advance from SM?
TVXQ member group Junsu had received an advance of ₩ 45,000,000 from SM a month ago to proceed the lawsuit case against SM which has been outstanding.
This morning on August 21st at Seoul Central District Court was held the first hearing of provisional injunction filed by 3 DBSK members Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun to stop the effect of exclusive contract.
At the trial SM side lawyer revealed, “Junsu received an advance in amount ₩ 45,000,000 from the company on July 15th. Seeing as this was done one month before the trial, it is hard to see it as an action that has nothing to do with the lawsuit.”
Lawyer from DBSK side defended, “The talk about this ₩ 45,000,000 advance in this case is groundless. If that payment ever happened, it was probably to settle his account for income taxes. They only made up story to stir up problem.”
3 DBSK members side also stated, “The members are wondering how much actually their profits. And what we’re talking here is the full earning history along with various costs which the members had been a limited view about it from SM.”

Judge Park Byungdae of Seoul District Courts was in charge of the first hearing between SM Entertainment and the three members of TVXQ. On that day, he revealed that he wished for the two sides to come to a mutual agreement for sake of the world's biggest fanclub and the other two members.
In accordance to this, Sejong, who is representing the three members of TVXQ, stated, "Unless SM Entertainment reveals the entire contract as well as TVXQ's income, it will be hard to reach an agreement."

[NEWS] SES Eugene: “SM – TVXQ Contract is a Shame.”
SES Eugene expressed sadness regarding contract conflicts between Dong Bang Shin Ki and SM Entertainment.
In the recent SPN interview with Eugene, she said “Not only Dong Bang Shin Ki, there are many entertainers are undergoing a contract relation difficulties. It’s more like the artist who is engaged to the contract is not familiar with the contract itself.”
“Being compared to the past, I don’t know if improvement has already been made. The past period contract was relatively too long and not flexible.”
Eugene explained the reason why after a rookie gained popularity, he/she tends to involve in conflict with the agency, “When being a rookie, you don’t know anything. The officers asked to hold the contract term and conditions without any understandings from the artist. However, when the artist has already been aware, he/she finally read carefully the agreement details in the contract, that’s when most likely conflict starts to arise.”
“It’s also because the contract difficulty which rookie are having difficulties to follow. Agency should consider to set more flexible terms and conditions that has variables to adapt depending on the changing environments.”

TVXQ vs. SM Entertainment Trial Begins
Three members of TVXQ – Hero Jae-jung, Xia Jun-su, and Micky Yu-cheon – want to part with their management agency SM Entertainment, but do not wish to break up the team. In a hearing held at the Seoul District Court late Friday morning the three members’ legal representative from the law firm Shin & Kim (also known as Sejong Law Firm) spoke about how the group’s contract is unfair and how the profit has not been distributed properly. SM Entertainment countered it by claiming that the agency incurred loss for four straight years while the members were in training and the profit payment was carried out fair and square.
During the hearing the lawyer said that the three members want to move to another agency, but also want to continue on their careers as TVXQ. The Shin & Kim lawyer cited another long-running K-pop group, Shinhwa, as an example of group members belonging to different agencies, yet working together.
The hearing reportedly went on with both sides fiercely arguing their positions. The court said that a mediation period can be set aside, if the two parties agreed, and recommended that the two parties settle the case to wrap up the proceeding quickly. Meanwhile, 120 thousand of TVXQ fans have filed a petition against SM Entertainment’s unfair long-term contract to the Seoul District Court on Thursday.

TVXQ’s Xiah Junsu, who is currently in a dispute with his agency said through Sejong that the news report stating he “Received payment of 45 million Won in advance from SM Entertainment a month before the lawsuit” is “completely false.”"
SME’s lawyer said at the first hearing today regarding the suspension of the exclusive contract request that, “Xiah Junsu (Kim Junsu)received 45 million Won in advanced payment on July 15th,” and “Seeing as this was done one month before the trial, it is hard to see it as an action that has nothing to do with the lawsuit.” Sejong’s side cuttingly replied to a reporter on the phone that, “That did not happen.”
He said, “If that did happen, it was probably to settle his account for his income taxes,” and “They are being ridiculous by making it seem like Xiah Junsu received that payment to prepare for this trial,” and could not control his anger at the rumor.

Not only will SME suffer monetary loss, the image of SME has also been hit because of this trial."
SME's lawyer stated that the focus of this lawsuit was not the period of the exclusive contract or the unfair income division, but the cosmetic company that the three members were involved with. [Lawsuit] TVXQ's 1st Court Hearing Ended Today
TVXQ and SM Entertainment's first court hearing took place today August 21st, 2009 at 11:40am KST.
TVXQ's lawyer stated "TVXQ members are very upset about the entire situation, but hopes that the lawsuit will end well." In addition, "We do not want TVXQ to split up. And even if they do change management companies, there is still a chance that TVXQ will remain together."
SM Entertainment's lawyer stated, "There are no personal grudges against the members, however this lawsuit is an enormous loss to the company, therefore we wish to resolve this as quickly as possible and have TVXQ continue their activities." In addition, SME stated that, "In regards to the members running Chinese based cosmetics businesses, SM only intervened as it could potentially hurt their image. That was the only reason."

TVXQ's lawyer stated "TVXQ members are very upset about the entire situation, but hopes that the lawsuit will end well." In addition, "We do not want TVXQ to split up. And even if they do change management companies, there is still a chance that TVXQ will remain together."
SM Entertainment's lawyer stated, "There are no personal grudges against the members, however this lawsuit is an enormous loss to the company, therefore we wish to resolve this as quickly as possible and have TVXQ continue their activities." In addition, SME stated that, "In regards to the members running Chinese based cosmetics businesses, SM only intervened as it could potentially hurt their image. That was the only reason."

With the precious money everyone sent us,
we were able to write an advertisement that explained SM Entertainment’s unlawful contract on Hankyoreh Newspaper.
We thought that the late President Kim Dae Joong’s effort to better human rights throughout his life time and TVXQ’s unlawful contract situation had a connection so we decided to print the advertisement on today’s issue.
We think it came out nicely and we would like to thank all the people who helped make this possible.
What is your work environment like?
1. You must work for at least 13 years
2. You must work 7 days a week of every month of every year
3. Someone else is in charge of your entire income. It is impossible to negotiate on your income
4. All of your schedules and business aims are handled by your office
5. If you do not work for 13 years, you must pay hundreds of billions of Won in compensation
6. If you cannot work for a time due to personal reasons, the term of your contract is lengthened

Cassiopeia Submit Petition with 120k Signatures against SME’s Unjust Contract Terms
Fans of group Dong Bang Shin Ki are fuming with anger. The first hearing for the 3 Dong Bang Shin Ki members Xiah JunSu, Micky YooChun and Hero JaeJoong on their lawsuit against SM Entertainment to retract the exclusive belonging contract effects will be held on 21st August.
And a fan who operates Dong Bang Shin Ki fan community site DSite submitted a petition signed by 120K people opposing SM’s ‘Unjust contract’ on 20th August at the Seoul Central Court.
The petition, consisting of 12 books, contains the signature of 121,073 fans from offline and online, and it also includes the activity schedule of Dong Bang Shin Ki from when they debuted in 2003 all the way to 2009.
Meanwhile, the group’s fans also posted up advertisements on newspaper about the case.
