Note: Just to get you a heads up, MAMA is what used to be known as MKMF. Its an end of year music festival/award show where the hottest artists perform. They have changed their name from Mnet KM Music Festival (MKMF) to Mnet Asian Music Awards. Last year in MKMF (2008) The boys won a lot of the awards including Album Of The Year for MIROTIC.
MKMF has always had a star-studded evening lined up and this year, with the change of name and standard, the pressure has almost doubled for Mnet. Now there has been rumours that Mnet have extended an invite to TVXQ.
For those of you who don’t know, Mnet is currently on bad terms with SME following SME’s decision to boycott MAMA. SME have stated that their decision to boycott Mnet was because despite the evident surge that SNSD created with their single “Gee”, they failed to win Mnet Countdown even once which is why they believe that Mnet countdown isn’t fair with its judgement. No SME artist is going to perform in the MAMA and SM has decided to withdraw its artists from the nominations.
This came across as a surprise considering TVXQ are currently in dispute with SME as well. A representative of MAMA stated, “This award show will be aired in 10 countries in Asia. This is a great opportunity to show the rest of Asia, the Korean culture and music. It should be a high priority to have all our top artists in attendance and we gave out an invite to all the top artists including TVXQ.”
There is currently no word from the boys whether they are going to attend the MAMA or not.
